Botanical Name: (Millettia laurentii) - Wenge's texture is rather coarse, straight grain, hard and heavy with a color range of dark brown to black with fine black veining. In 1983 this wood was first suggested to us as a guitar tonewood by maker Don Musser. Also known as Awoung, Dikela, Mibotu, Bokonge. Wenge grows in Tropical West Africa, Zaire, Cameroon, Gabon, Tanzania.
