Botanical Name: (Prunus serotina) Tonally Cherry is compared to other medium-density woods like Walnut and Maple and falls between Mahogany and Maple. Expect nice separation and clear trebles and a good presence in the mid-range. Cherry finishes beautifully. No pore filling necessary. It becomes darker and richer with age. Cherry will most often have pitch pockets (black spots) that may need filling. It may also have small pin knots.
