Yellow Cedar is one of the most stable of woods when it comes to dimensional change with respect to moisture content. It is more immune to cracking than any of the other soundboards. Tonally, the wood is used more for flat-picking steel string guitars when a strong tone is desired. Some classical guitar builders report that it carries out the sound of the instrument with a chimney, clear, articulate tone with great sustain.
