Russian Spruce

Russian Spruce (PICEA OBOVATA) is the most famous of the northern Europe grown spruce species. Wood colors range from creamy white to light yellow. Russian spruce from Arkhangelsk region of Russia has exceptional resonance qualities and is famous in producing musical instruments. It is straight-grained wood with thin regular texture. The wood is low in weight and has medium density. Strength is good. Sawing and machining is easy. I would put this in the same general category as the many other European spruce varieties.
